Viteco Data Suite
Your shortcut to faster delivery of high quality analytics and reporting solutions at an affordable price.
What is Viteco Data Suite?
Viteco Data Suite is a set of tools used for building, documenting and managing Data Warehouse solutions as well as Business Intelligence, Data Hub and other data-oriented solutions. Viteco Data Suite enables high quality solutions to be build faster and at a lower cost. The design is focused on offering enhanced productivity as well as quality, which in this case goes hand in hand. This class of software tools is often referred to as “Data Warehouse Automation”.
Viteco Data Suite was developed based on experience from Data Warehouse projects in large companies in the financial sector, pharmaceutical devices and wholesale businesses. We have automated elements in the development characterized by being time consuming, rather standardized and error prone. These processes are generic technical processes with no real need for customization. The modules are 100% metadata driven completely without any coding – just definition of the necessary metadata.
What does Viteco Data Suite contain?
The Data Suite contains 9 different important elements
- Offload the processing from the production system
- Move the data on to a platform optimized for analytical processing rather than transactional processing, thus increasing price/performance ratio
- First step in establishing a pure data oriented system of reference
The Extract-module is 100% metadata controlled. Based on connection information and a list of tables or the like you need to extract, data is transferred in batches as defined by you.
Extract support the following sources: JDBC (typically relational databases), REST services, http, CSV-files, XML-files and Viteco Master Data.
Multisource gives you the following benefits:
- Save time to develop and maintain specific extracts against the 90+ applications exposed by Multisource
- Full MetadataGenerator support for non-relational sources saves further time and reduce needed competency
See Viteco Data Suite User Guide for a complete list of the supported and tested sources supported by Multisource.
- Track full history on all data
- Time-line precision down to database timestamp precision
- Metadata controlled, standardized history
The data layout of the historic data serves as a standardized basis of the further processing of data in the analytical data warehouse system.
The application handles data in a table layout, and lets you dynamically define tables and their layouts, down to lookups and validation by means of regex.
Being a browser-based web application, it may also be used for data entry in a broader sense if you should need to get data into the solution from affiliates, departments or other, that may be geographically wide spread.
The Extract and Share modules provides functionality to load data into – i.e. for adding derived information on customers, product or other – and out of the Viteco Master Data.
The test are build and repeatedly run during the development phase, and often a subset of the test are carried over to production and used as data quality gates in the production batch flow, ensuring a well defined quality of data in the production environment.
Data from a Data Warehouse is increasingly being integrated back into the transactional environment, and the Share module is a metadata-controlled facility to move data from the analytical database to some other system.
One of the use cases is loading data into Viteco Master Data, in order to make new data available for further enhancement, thereby eliminating errors in entry of the initial key data.
Coming from the real world we have put together an approach to documentation that differ markedly from the above. During the development, all – or at least most – of the information needed in the documentation is present, since you need it in order to build the solution in the first place.
We put this information into a wiki-structure, that supports a general approach to developing Data Warehouse solutions. So instead of writing the information into a notepad or on a post-it, just put it into the wiki, and over time it will be complete. As part of the retrospective or user acceptance, the documentation may be reviewed and missing or out of date parts updated.
The same documentation serves for the developers and the users – mainly the more advanced analytical users, who need to know exactly what data they have at hand. This raise the quality considerably, simply because the documentation is actively used and tested ongoing.
Beyond the basic operational support we offer support on an individual basis tailored to your specific needs. Get in touch for more information.
